An emphatic victory for Fakenham U16's
Holt U16 0 – 58 Fakenham U16
Fakenham U 16's travelled to Holt for their local derby on a warm, sunny sunday. Eleven of the Fakenham squad had been on a trip to Leicester Tigers for a pre-match Academy Training session the day before and were keen to put that training into effect. Unfortunately, Holt had a depleted squad due to outside committments and 3 Fakenham lads were loaned to them, thanks Alex, Zach and Tom L. This was, therefore, not a true reflection of Holt's usual play and although they put up a continued and committed game the score did not fully reflect the closeness of the game. Ashley opened the scoring with a try near the corner flag, which was soon followed by Lloyd making a good run to score and convert his try under the posts. A further two tries were scored in the first half, one converted by Ben W after he ran the ball in and another by Frosty to see a 24 point lead.
The second half saw the game continue with Fakenham keeping up the pressure and, despite Holt
giving their all in defense, they scored a further 6 tries from Henry, Luke ,Ashley and John, who was also voted Man of the Match. This led to the final score being 0-58. Thanks to all those involved from both teams for their effort and support.
Next match is at Fakenham on 20th Oct against West Norfolk, 11am kick-off.
All welcome to come along to support.
The U16's first full fixture of the season was at Diss on Sept 29th, always a close- matched game and played in a sporting manner. Fakenham were the stronger side for most of the first half with Diss being kept mainly on the defense. Good attacking play saw tries from LLoyd and Matty, though unable to convert and a very close attempt just short of the line from Kieran at the end of the half, ending with a 10-0 lead.
The second half saw Diss bring on some substitutes from their U17 squad which changed the strength of their side and allowed them to be a more attacking. They converted a try early in to the half but Fakenham kept up the pressure and were close to scoring at one point. Unfortunately for them Diss managed to score 2 more tries and it ended with a full time score 17-10. An enjoyable game for all involved and spectators and we look forward to the return home fixture on Dec 15th.
