U16's pipped at the post!
Fakenham U16's played hosts to Wymondham in their rearranged Norfolk Plate match on Sunday morning, the strong wind looking to be a factor in the kicking area of the game. Fakenham, with the wind behind them, opened the scoring with Murray running in a try, converted by Lloyd. The first half was closely contested with both sides playing to their full potential, but Wymondham did score and convert for a half time score at 7-7. Fakenham opened the scoring again in the second half after winning a line-out close to the try line and driving forwards, with Ashley scoring a try near the corner. Wymondham countered again with two further tries, one unconverted, before the home side again drove the ball for Harry to get it to ground following heavy defending from the visitors. Wymondham were keen to maintain and extend their 2 point lead and piled on the pressure which gained them another unconverted try. This looked like they had the win but Fakenham again countered with pressure on the try line before Ashley was the one to score the try. It then was left to the conversion to level the game but the wind was against them and saw the kick go just wide of the posts as the final whistle blew. Final score 22-24, a well fought and close contest.
