Norwich Union 22 - Fakenham 29

A good win against Norwich Union

Fakenham travelled to this EC2 fixture in high spirits and with a healthy respect for their opposition as NU had run Thetford very close a fortnight before (Thetford had defeated Fakenham 7-31 in the first round of league fixtures). The long awaited day when ex-youth prop Craig Prior reached his 18th birthday and was eligible to play front row for the adult team arrived and he duly got the start. Simon Bygrave was also included on the bench for his first outing with Fakenham. Fakenham started brightly enough, forcing the attack, and were rewarded with a penalty converted by Tom Bane-Young (0-3). The Norwich Union forwards then took charge of both the ball and

Beccles U16 12 v Fakenham U16 12

A well deserved draw

Sunday 27th Oct was a blustery but sunny day for the annual trip to Beccles. The game was a very closely matched affair with Beccles having the wind advantage in the first half and keeping Fakenham mainly on the defensive. Beccles scored the first try, although, unluckily, hitting the posts on their kick for conversion. Fakenham were still recovering when Beccles got the ball early on from the restart and ran through, this time to score under the posts and allow an easier kick for the conversion. Fakenham responded by raising their game and increasing the pressure on the opposition, finally breaking through into the

Broadlands 3rd XV 5 - Fakenham 2nd XV 10

A Game at last!

Fakenham travelled to Great Yarmouth for only their second actual game of the season (the rest with one exception had all been cancelled by the opposition) to play Broadlands third team for a friendly game in dark and gloomy conditions with a light drizzle. The game started as it meant to continue with both sides playing at full tilt in the wet conditions and forcing errors in the other teams handling whilst they were attacking. Broadlands had the better of the first 10minutes as they pressed the Fakenham team back into their own 22 metre area. Each time Fakenham tried to relieve the pressure they turned the ball over usually from a knock on or being isolated in a ruck. It was 30 minutes into the game before the deadlock was broken

Fakenham 42 - Mistley 18 – Eastern Counties 2

A good win for Fakenham

Fakenham entertained Mistley rugby club from Essex in a Eastern Counties 2 League game at Fakenham. The pre-match luncheon was attended by 4 Mistley committee members
Fakenham had a poor start to the game when failing to deal with the opening kick-off meant one of the Fakenham players was caught in possession and was forced to hold on to the ball a bit too long which gave Mistley a very kickable penalty they happily accepted (0-3). Fakenham then pushed the attack and 6 minutes later drew level through a Tom Bane-Young penalty kick (3-3). Mistley then scored another penalty 4 minutes later (3-6) and it wes starting to look as though it might be one of those games. Fakenham went
