A good win for the U16's
Fakenham U 16's invited Spalding RUFC over on Remembrance Sunday for a friemdly fixture that meant new, unknown opposition for both teams. After a minutes silence the game was off to a quick start with Fakenham taking control and Tom L scoring in the corner within the first few minutes. Spalding responded by forcing Fakenham back into their own half and causing them to up their defense before Spalding eventually got a converted try. Both sides kept up their determination to win and proved an equal match for each other but Lloyd broke through with a converted try. The first half saw a home side lead of 12-7 after
The better side win on the day
Saturday saw a visit from Hadleigh in Essex who, like Fakenham, had to drop out of higher leagues a few years ago and work their way back up again. They made a very aggressive start to the match and soon had Fakenham under pressure resulting in a penalty for Hadleigh which opened the scoring. Fakenham responded quickly to level the game at 3 all through a penalty from Tom Bain-Young. Hadleigh again progressed into the Fakenham half and this time secured a try which was not converted. The home team replied quickly with another penalty from TB-Y to make the score 6 : 8. The game
A last minute defeat for the 2nd's
With no League action for the First Team at the weekend, Fakenham 2nd played Thetford 2nd in a very close, friendly Woodfordes Merit Table 3 encounter where 14 of the games 17 points where scored in the last five minutes.
Thetford had the better of the initial opening and scored a penalty early on in the first half with their scrum looking functional and their backs fairly lively. Although Fakenham had the majority of possession most of it was unfortunately in their own half and they struggled to break through some impressive defensive work by Thetford into the oppositions territory leaving the game finely balanced, at 3 nil, in the visitors favour at half time.
