Mistley 20 Fakenham 22

Fakenham travelled to Mistley with a full squad for this EC2 league encounter along with some senior members of the club management committee who travelled on the coach with the side to support them in their endeavours. It was obvious from the first few minutes that this was going to be a bruising physical game with both sided determined to score first. Fakenham infringed at a ruck and were duly penalised and Mistley's long range kicker took the chance to score the penalty and take the initial lead (3-0). Fakenham then attacked deep into the Mistley half and with some great handling and passing Josh Gee sprinted for the line to score the try but unfortunately the conversion kick was missed (3-5). Mistley were totally dominant in the scrum which came as a shock to Fakenham as no other league team had pushed their scrum

Fakenham Foxes 0 v Southwold Swallows 26

The Foxes took on Southwold in a post-Christmas friendly game which was played in excellent spirit by both teams. The game gave the Foxes the opportunity to try new players out in different positions. Southwold quickly took control of the game scoring a try in the first few minutes. This gave the Foxes a wake-up call and they then threw themselves in to the game making some big tackles. However the Foxes could not hold off Southwold for long as they broke through the line again to score. In the second half the Foxes improved their game; there were some good moves from the backs and the forwards gained ground driving the ball forward. The Foxes were denied a few opportunities on the try line after some excellent running from the wingers. Southwold added to the score again before the final whistle. The Foxes are always looking for new players to join the team. We train every Wednesday from 6:45pm at Fakenham RFC. Come and give rugby a go!

Fakenham 28 Watton 0

Fakenham hosted Watton for a friendly match at home, both teams involving some of their second team players to give each team a large squad and an opportunity to play in this week off from league action. The game started close with both sides having good position but failing to produce any telling attacks. Fakenham stated to dominate the scrums and use the position better but without producing points on the scoreboard. Each team seemed to do enough in defence to stop the other from scoring but Fakenham were lifting their game progressively, taking more possession and territory and spending plenty of time in the Watton 22m area. When Declan Sperring took a knock Fakenham had to give George Ready a run earlier than expected at scrum half. George managed to engineer a gap to score from a 5m scrum and this was converted by Joe Bane-Young (7-0). Watton lost a player early with a knee injury and had to reshuffle the side but
