Fakenham 58 West Norfolk 2nds 0 – Eastern Counties 2N

Fakenham entertained West Norfolk seconds at home in an EC2 North league fixture looking for their twelfth win in a row. West Norfolk had other ideas however and right from the kick off harried Fakenham and pressed their early advantage to push Fakenham back into their own 22 metre area for long periods and in an effort to protect their line Fakenham infringed at various areas of play and gave away 6 penalties in a row and were warned by the referee about their discipline and the possibility of a penalty try.  Fakenham’s defence work well but the spectators were confused as to why West did not attempt to kick any of the penalties as they seemed to have the upper hand at that stage of the game. After about 10-12 minutes Fakenham finally made it back to the half way line and stand-off Lloyd Marshall broke the West line and then

Watton 17 Fakenham 27 – Norfolk Plate competition

In a break from League action last weekend Fakenham were drawn against Watton for the first time this season in the Norfolk Plate with a chance for the winner to progress to the semi-finals of this competition. Fakenham were in good spirits at the start of the game considering the fierce cross wind that was to make it difficult for both sides, but they were soon under pressure from a well drilled Watton side (in third place in EC3 North). Fakenham were constantly pressed deep into their own half and were soon behind after a well-worked try 5-0 broke through the normally impregnable Fakenham defence. The visitors rallied but some handling errors and a failure to look after the ball found they were back on the defensive again, trying to contain a rampant Watton team and then went further behind when Watton scored their second try, 10-0. Fakenham needed desperately to get back into the game and on their next drive Tomas Bane-Young took a chance to launch a drop goal to put them on the scoreboard at last 10-3. The game was now more

Fakenham’s 1st XV game had been forfeited by Beccles this weekend leaving only the 2nd team fixture against Dereham who unfortunately called off at short notice and some hasty phoning round found a replacement in Norwich Union to allow their teams to have their first proper workout in weeks after a series of opposition cancelled games. Fakenham got off to a promising with some great attacks but ultimately failed to score, in response Norwich union put the Fakenham defence to the test but it held firm. Fakenham again pressed forward and this time they were rewarded with a try from captain Craig White but

Fakenham 47 Holt Seconds 7

Fakenham were looking to get back into a fully competitive mode when they entertained local rivals Holt 2nd XV for this latest round of the EC2 North league season. Fakenham started off slowly and allowed Holt to come forward and press the game well into the fakenham half but the Fakenham defence held firm, and gave no points away. The pattern continued for about 10 to 15 minutes until Holt were awarded a penalty kick but it was missed  and Fakenham escaped and broke away into the holt half of the pitch. Fakenham’s communication and organisation started to turn the game around with Fakenham taking the upper hand and
