Norwich Medics 22 - Fakenham 35

This EC2 North League game saw a meeting of two sides meet who were both riding high in the table and chasing Diss seconds who had set the early pace in the league. The game began as a tense affair with both teams more intent on not conceding than concentrating on scoring themselves.  Fakenham looked the stronger of the sides in the early exchanges being camped in the Medics half for the first 15 minutes but with nothing to show for it. The match came to life after Medics had infringe 40 metres out and Fakenham’s stand-off Tom Bane-Young struck the penalty to bisect the posts and give the visitors the lead 0-3. The opening score fired the game into life with both sides trying to play rugby and launching well-organised attacks, the defences held firm, although there were signs of what was

Fakenham 11 - Dereham 5

Fakenham hosted a pre-match lunch before this EC 2 North league match against local rivals Dereham. The game was hard fought with both sides wanting to win the game for their league position and to have the upper hand in the derby match.

Fakenham started the better of the two sides putting pressure on the visitors right from the kick-off camping in the Dereham half and determined to get the opening score. After a series of scrums, rucks and mauls on the Dereham 5 metre line a quick pass to Steven Clay saw him launch himself at the visitors try line, although the defence tackled him he was not to be denied and forced his way over to score the try. The conversion by George Ready was too accurate, hitting the crossbar to deny him the extra two points 5-0. Fakenham pushed forward again but had to work hard for every yard. Good work from Kellock, Warren and Singleton took Fakenham to just outside Dereham’s 22m area when the visitors infringed and gave the home side a penalty shot. Paul Richardson stepped up to take the kick and bisected

Norwich Union 0 – Fakenham 38 – Eastern Counties 2N

After the heroics of the previous week and the defeat of Broadlands, the visit of Fakenham to Norwich Union proved oddly flat due in part to a mixture of misplaced complacency and a last minute reshuffle caused when the injury caused to Lake Taylor during the Diss game proved to be not as recovered as was hoped for.  The first quarter of the game saw Fakenham in much the stronger position most of the time only to throw it away by wrong decision making by the team and this gave Norwich Union a confidence boost with no score on the board when there really should have been at least a couple. The deadlock was

Fakenham 35 Broadlands Great Yarmouth 0 - EC2N

Fakenham hosted this EC2 North league game against last seasons’ league winners Broadlands  GY, full of confidence after last weeks’ narrow defeat away to Diss second team and happy to hear that the referee injured the previous week was fine. Fakenham started well, putting the visitors under pressure right from the start of the game although Broadlands did not look the same strength of team compared to last season but they competed well and frustrated Fakenham with regularity. The home side continued to press into the visitors half and 8 minutes into the game got their reward when Tom Bane-Young received the ball after some great work by the forwards and
