Fakenham arrived for this opening game of the league 2nd half determined to continue moving forwards from the die first half performance of the cup game against Swaffham. The team was still looking unusual as a combination of injury and the early start meant a number of regular players were not available but they started positively but they just couldn’t quite get the phases together that they wanted due to the aggressive play of Broadlands in the rucks. Fakenham 2nd 18 - Watton 15 Eastern Counties 3N

Fakenham seconds played host to Watton for this EC3 North league game, with Fakenham having players returning from injury and absence to swell the normally available pool for selection it promised to be a good game. Watton started the better side, running with plenty of pace and determination and might well have scored two or three tries except for some superb tackling from Fakenham full back Joe Bane-Young. Fakenham didn’t really help themselves by regularly kicking away possession (in many cases with very poor kicks) and having to then defend against a rampant Watton team. The first score of the game went with the flow of play when Watton got more players in to the attack and breach the Fakenham defence to score a converted try and take the lead 0-7. Swaffham 22 Fakenham 19

Fakenham travelled to Swaffham for the first round of the Norfolk Junior Cup in high spirits following their recent league form. This game had the potential for Fakenham to challenge Swaffham an EC1 league team and progress to the next round. Swaffham had not read the Fakenham script however and raced into a 14 – 0 lead within 15 minutes of the kick off, their dominance in the forwards showing clearly where the visitors had their main injury problems.
