A disappointing loss for Fakenham’s 1st XV this week playing away at a side mid table in the league above.  West Norfolk kicked off the fixture which was well gathered and recycled before Fakenham’s backs strung some slick passes together and George Ready scored within the first minute of the fixture.  West Norfolk started to put some phases and strong runs together but Fakenhams defensive line remained strong and the next score again came from Fakenham, this time by Brett Stolworthy.  West Norfolk got themselves on the scoreboard with a converted try 5 minutes later and were beginning to increase the pressure and vary the attacks on Fakenhams defensive line.  However Fakenham, as in previous weeks were strong in defense and they carried two further scores in through the remainder of the half.  The first a full team effort progressively moving the ball further up the pitch until Tom Bane Young dived around the corner to touchdown.  The 2nd, a great solo effort from Brett Stolworthy who scooped up a loose ball in the Fakenham half and ran in the 75 meters to score.  The half time score was 26 - 7 in favour of Fakenham.

Unfortunately, due to injuries, Fakenham had to play the entire second half with 14 men and this 1 man advantage tipped the balance in favour of West Norfolk.  Fakenham were only able to put up 1 score through Murray Tindall while West Norfolk scored a further 5 Trys.  The last of these came as the final play of the game and the subsequent conversion took West Norfolk ahead for the first time in the game.  Despite the loss, Fakenham were very pleased with their performance.  Missing any of their regular centers and playing the entire 2nd half with 14 men yet still only just being beaten by a single point shows that when they are promoted they will be able to compete well in the league above.  The Norfolk Brewhouse sponsored

Fakenham 2nd XV 62 - 12 Norwich Medics 2nd XV- Eastern Counties 3 (north)

Fakenham 2nd XV gave a strong well rounded performance in putting up a large score against a fit and fast Norwich Medics side.  Captain Adam Steele led from the front with strong runs pulling in defenders while Josh Gee was able to use his pace to punch several holes in the Medics defence leading to multiple scores.  Tries came from Josh Gee (6), Callum Frost (2), George Loades and captain Adam Steele along with conversions by George Loades and Mark Allen.

Next Weekend both sides play home fixtures.  The 1st XV host one local rival, Swaffham 1st XV whilst the 2nd XV host another, Dereham 1st XV.
