Fakenham hosted Norwich Medics for this important EC2 North league game on the back of their first defeat in 13 games against Diss 2’s. Medics were going to be tough opposition as the games over the last 3 seasons had all been very close affairs but Fakenham had possibly the physiological advantage having beaten Medics on their home turf earlier in the season. The game as predicted was close with ebb and flow to both sides but Medics were the first to hit the scoreboard with a penalty to give them 0-3 lead. Fakenham were showing plenty of signs that they had shaken off the last defeat and they put some very good moves together and finally crossed the line only for the off load of the ball to hit the support players

A combination of conditions, late arrival, player unavailability/injury and a touch of complacency were Fakenham's undoing in this tough encounter at Diss. Diss started much better on an extremely wet and muddy pitch which first sight said there was to be little running rugby played and were soon rewarded with a well worked try, aided by some unusually disorganised defence from Fakenham.  Eventually Fakenham woke up and began to try to assert themselves back into the game but they could never get the cohesion they have demonstrated in other games in either defence or attack.  Diss competed heavily at every breakdown and played the conditions far better.  Before half time Adam Lingwood received a yellow card for a perceived deliberate knock on which baffled evertone, and an injury to the impressive Ben Butterfield that removed him from the field and forced changes to an already stretched team who had so far managed to stay in the game with two penalties from Lloyd Marshall.

The second half continued in a similar vein to the first with Fakenham's lack of

Fakenham entertained West Norfolk seconds at home in an EC2 North league fixture looking for their twelfth win in a row. West Norfolk had other ideas however and right from the kick off harried Fakenham and pressed their early advantage to push Fakenham back into their own 22 metre area for long periods and in an effort to protect their line Fakenham infringed at various areas of play and gave away 6 penalties in a row and were warned by the referee about their discipline and the possibility of a penalty try.  Fakenham’s defence work well but the spectators were confused as to why West did not attempt to kick any of the penalties as they seemed to have the upper hand at that stage of the game. After about 10-12 minutes Fakenham finally made it back to the half way line and stand-off Lloyd Marshall broke the West line and then

A good start to the New Year!

Fakenham travelled to Dereham on the back of a 7 game winning streak, full of confidence and fielding a team stronger than the last time the two sides met at Fakenham. The game started with Dereham on the attack but the new found discipline in defence from Fakenham repelled them and allowed them to launch attacks of their own. Fakenham spurned a chance to take the lead when Tom Bane-Young pushed his penalty kick and miss out on three points. Dereham breathed a sigh of relief and then set about building the pressure on Fakenham and pushed hard for the first score of the game, the breakthrough came when the number eight sneaked down the blind side of the ruck and beat the covering tackles to score

At the weekend Fakenham hosted Wymondham seconds for this EC2 North league encounter hoping for a seventh victory in a row to keep their league challenge alive. The game kicked off with a fierce wind blowing but Wymondham looked and played stronger than Fakenham expected and so they forced the pace of the game, Fakenham's discipline at the breakdown was poor and gave away too many penalties. One attack saw Wymondham drive into the home side's 22 metre area Fakenham transgressed to give
