The recent wet weather took its toll on the match even before it started, the heavy going nature of the pitch suggesting that this was going to be a battle of the packs, and so it turned out. As the half progressed Fakenham's forwards, with Sayer and Kellock outstanding, began to exert authority, driving Wisbech off the ball, and winning the line outs.
